Boot failure with ESP8266

I have the example sketch running with an ESP32, but it fails to boot with an ESP8266 D1 Mini Node. This is the serial output (at 115200) ets Jan 8 2013,rst cause:2, boot mode:(3,7)

Any thoughts?
