How to send template variable, e.g. ${LayerThickness}, to the printer

Hi I would like to have the variable ${LayerThickness} sent to the printer at each new exposure with the latest Photonic3D version, i.e. cwh-1.0.16. I have put this under the "Set Z Lift Distance (Optional)" parameter and this doesn't work. If I put any string there, this will be sent to the printer at each new exposure. Could someone help? Many thanks
