import from LDIF file

Would it be possible to add new backend for importing from LDIF file (exported from Thunderbird Addressbook)?

I have created LDIF parser which gives me an array of objects from the file, but I would need to get some front-end to get it into the phone. Is there something at least a bit resembling API? I tried to create an ultra simple front-end but of course participating in the shared project is always better (and I really suck in the front-end code).
