[Feature Request] RE: Labels and Gradients Option

Open kirkpabk opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

  1. Labels - adding ability to provide x/y +/- values. Would allow architects to precisely place (or tweak) label positions where needed.

  2. Gradients - Add capability to control the alt color? Would allow architects to dynamically bring attention as a visual status without changing the core standard figure color. We already have uses for the line color and changing the entire standard layer color is not desirable.

Which labels do you mean? If you mean text boxes inside of elements or labels on connections, these can't be adjusted by x,y.

You can already do it:

  • Set the element's label to a single space so that no label is shown
  • Add a visual not inside the element and set its label expression to $parent{name} (or whatever expression suite you need, the only important thing is to refer to use the $parent prefix)
  • Resize/move the note where you want inside the element.

and changing the entire standard layer color is not desirable.

Not directly related to your issue, but there is no standard colors in ArchiMate. The colors used are only there to avoid having only black and white pictures in the standard and is not normative. My advice: use the colors that best convey you message to you stakeholders.

I will try the suggestion, thanks!

Regarding the gradient, I believe what I meant by the point was that the gradient color option was only one sided based on the current color. The seemingly default white (or transparent) color was the only option. Since the feature was there, just making that configurable seemed to be a low hanging fruit item, but useful. Either way--thanks for considering!
