Are there going to be anymore updates or do we have to switch?

Is anyone going to update this plugin or should we look for an alternative?

Since there was no Pr merge since 29 Oct 2016 and also no new version since then, this looks abandoned. Do you know of any drop in replacement (like a fork of this that is better up to date security and wp wise?)
