Ascii art not good for CI

Ascii art only renders well in the console. Log output, say in a CI server log, looks really atrocious. Can has -disable-ascii?

I think I can do you one better: how about a --silent option that doesn't print anything out on success (i.e., default UNIX-like behavior) and also uses proper exit codes?
