We still need extensible profiles :( @erikjohnston started work on this a while back at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jXMElbQR-5ldt_yhWuqzLFBO3-TEJWhRyWF5Y_gGSsc/edit but the implementation has got displaced by other activity.

tbf there was already MSC3906 - which this will presumably replace, by making it play nice with native OIDC (MSC3861) :)
(if this happens, it probably obsoletes #3469, which i think only makes sense if you support the off-standard POST Content-Range headers)
