Time to create new aptly release?
Aptly hasn't had a versioned release since 2022. Is it time to cut one?
Detailed Description
The latest aptly release is 1.5.0, from June 2022. Since then, there have been dozens of merged changes, many fixing bugs or otherwise making Aptly better.
I don't really know if Aptly has a defined release schedule at all, though, so please let me know what the project maintainers recommend here.
Context
I'm starting my org's upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04, and was looking at upgrading Aptly before beginning mirroring the new distribution. While I'm fine building and running off the latest tip, we've normally used the versioned releases and would slightly prefer to keep using them.
Hi @mcpherrinm ,
absolutely, you are right. In the last months we managed to cut the number of PR and also resolve some of the issues. There are also more maintainers joining and helping with reviews and implementation, which is fantastic, as aptly needs more helping hands / support.
In short, the next aptly release is not far away. Definitely this year, we'll keep you posted with a release schedule !
Thanks! I have definitely noticed the activity and appreciate your effort!
