Sticker search not working
Some search terms don't seem to work for stickers loaded through uSticker, although they work for other sticker packs. I'm having problems with these:
- promise
- sniff
- xoxo
- shhh
- ilu/ily
Those words are in the filename, but I'm only getting results from other sticker packs.
Can you post the full filename for the ones that aren't working? Thanks.
The filenames originally contained numbers along with the words, but I've tried using only the words and still have the same problem.
It's happening only for specific words. If for instance I change "shhh" to "quiet", it works. Similarly, "hugs-kisses" in place of "xoxo" works - but it's longer, so I'm hoping there's a better solution.
Actually, interesting, search doesn't work at all for me. Keywords are still generated correctly afaict, so I'm going to assume (and based on your description) that this is a bug in Gboard. Bleh. I'll investigate more when I get some time.
That's weird, most search terms are (seemingly) working for me. Anyway, thanks for looking into it.

These are the logs I get during search. Interestingly, search suggestions seem to work fine; I added a new sticker and it was listed in the suggestions. That indicates it clearly can see the files with keywords. Strongly suspecting a Gboard bug now. I'll see if I can test on an earlier version of Gboard. Do you mind posting your Gboard version as well?
I have version 8.7.10.272217667
Tested on some previous Gboard versions:
8.4.2: OK 8.5.7: OK 8.6.11: broken 8.7.10: broken 8.8.10: broken
Looks like it was probably broken for a few months now and nobody noticed. As for why some keywords work for you but not others, I'm going to guess it's a caching issue similar to the last bug they had.
Ok, thanks. Hope they fix it, I wouldn't know how to report the issue because I don't really understand the background workings.
It looks like literally none of the Gboard sticker apps in the Google Play store work with search (also while testing them I feel like I got myself a few viruses too, blegh). And given it's been broken for this long, I feel like nobody at Google cares. Oh well. Looks like we'll have to live without search.
I just updated to Gboard 8.9.14.285858165 and checked again - all the words I mentioned in the beginning are working now. If it works for you too, then I suppose they've fixed it.
Hmm they're still broken for me on that version 🙃
I'll keep this issue open for now so it's discoverable in case other people have the same problem.
They do seem to take a little extra time/effort to load - I have to scroll forward to the end of the search results and make a slight reverse scrolling motion to make the uSticker results appear.
@jversusk oh my god you're right, what a shitty experience. That confirms it's a bug on Google's side. I assume this means they're not loading the search results correctly in the initial list. Great find! Sadly this doesn't help if there aren't enough external results to scroll through :-(

Hmm I can see how that could be a problem although it hasn't happened to me so far.
The sticker search is not working for any filenames for imported stickers, but works fine for other sticker packs.
I have Gboard version 9.7 on Android 9
