Not able to add manager to the Organization

I tried adding manager to the organization. It says sending verification mail failed. I have already enabled the mail configurations. Mail configurations done in the settings are: username: username password: ******** Smtp Host: smtp.gmail.com Smtp Port: 587 After saving above configurations it says Settings saved

Is there any pre-requisite for mail configurations?
