Future of the hosted version

Just wondering what will happen to https://freegeoip.net when it is being taken over by @apilayer. Free version? Paid plans?

Regardless, great to see the project being continued :)

Hi Espen,

Thanks for getting in touch. For now we week the project running as-is, and will announce some more detailed plans for the future within the next 2-3 weeks.

We'll keep you posted here :)

Ok cool, you don't support https in the free plan and one has to add the ip manually to the request.

For all those sad to see things like HTTPS go away, I've setup https://freegeoip.app to continue the spirit of this project.

  • HTTPS (no HTTP, sorry - it's 2018)
  • Rate limit of 15000/hour as before for FREE, guaranteed
  • No logs, no analytics - privacy alway in mind
  • Continued development for features like bulk lookup and other data sources

Also, why would you put the access key as a GET parameter?
