I might start with the [Go implementation](https://github.com/ipfs/go-graphsync), which links to the [spec here](https://github.com/ipld/specs/blob/master/block-layer/graphsync/graphsync.md). I bet @hannahhoward, @rvagg, and/or @warpfork might have other resources to point to and ideas.
