Can't type spanish characters (tildes)

Open rastersoft opened this issue 5 years ago • 8 comments

When I try to write a letter with tilde (á, é, í, ó, ú), it doesn't work, nothing is shown. But other spanish characters (ñ, ¿, ¡) does work.

Similarly for me, trying to type some French characters by composing them (´ + e = é, ^ + e = ê) doesn't work. But if I enter é, ê, etc. directly, it works.

This in an issue in Riot, see https://github.com/vector-im/riot-web/issues/7440 — let's keep this open to track the upstream issue.

The issue is closed in Riot Web, and I can confirm typing accented characters in Riot Web works fine now.

It is still not working if you use Spanish keyboard layout on Wayland (tested with Epiphany and Revolt, running on Sway).

I can confirm the same issue with Portuguese keyboard layout. Can't write several letters (à á, è é, ì í, ó, ú, ã â). Nothing is shown

Same here with US-International keyboard. I can not type the following in Revolt: " '

This was also reported in the Debian bug tracker: https://bugs.debian.org/931805

In a revolt window, I can’t input characters that involve dead keys (exemple: “ê” on a French keyboard, which is entered via the combination of the “^” dead key followed by “e”).
