Not able to choose a second single emoticon after a previous message like that

Not checked with other Matrix clients so maybe this happens also with Riot.

If you have the rich edit support, you can write something like :thumbup: and a overlay dialog will pop up to enable you choose an emoji.

If you send a message in which there is only one emoji, the emoji is viewed in big size.

If, after sending a message like this, you want to send another message, the overlay dialog will not pop up. You will have to write something before the opening :, like a space or anything else.

This looks like an upstream bug. I can reproduce with Revolt, Epiphany, Chrome, and the Electron-based “desktop” application. And it happens both in the latest stable release of Riot and in the develop branch.
