How to change direction of popup?

I need this too. In my case when the list appears, the space between the keyboard and the field is not enough to trigger the change of direction. this cause the popup to be very small. is there not a way to change the direction? or perhaps a way to change the variable that controls the minimum distance between the keyboard and the field to a higher value so this doesn't happen
