[Ranger-768] Hive Metastore Plugin

Hi, is it planned to merge this at some point, or are there any other workarounds to make Spark (which connects to Hive Metastore directly) to work with Apache Ranger authorization policies?

PS: was not able to build a package from this branch, there are some compilation errors

@skliarpawlo This repo is just a mirror. You might want to consider using the review board, Project JIRA or the developers mailing list for such comments.

Hi, I came across the doc/demo about this Ranger feature, seems like @yzhou2001 you started working on it since 2016, I have same question as @skliarpawlo did 2 years ago, is there a plan to merge this PR in 2020?

@m44444 With Hive metastore updates in HIVE-21753, the Ranger authorizer implementation for HiveServer2 can be used to authorize access to HMS as well.

@rameeshm In HIVE-26248, data connector authorization has added on HMS, but the Ranger authorizer implementation for HiveServer2 without this followup so far.
