Open aroyarexs opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

Configuration

  • Keka version: Version 1.2.17 (4634)
  • macOS version: 11.6 (20G165)

Describe the bug

I wanted to extract a .xip file whch worked fine without any errors. Inside the .xip is an .app which I then tried to open. I then tried it with The Unarchiver which showed an error (see screenshot 1) Last but not least I tried it with the default archive app from Apple, Archive Utility. Extracted and able to open

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to https://xcodereleases.com
  2. Download Xcode 12.5.1
  3. Extract Xcode_12.5.1.xip with Keka
  4. Open extracted file Xcode.app
  5. See error (screenshot 2)

Expected behavior

After extraction, can open Xcode.app.

Sorry for the late reply! It's a known issue but currently there's no possible fix. Probably the only solution is to detect such XIP installation package and inform in Keka it is not compatible 😞

Will not register as the default extraction tool for XIP format with next release 1.2.19.

Bought Keka specifically to extract Xcode xip files. Very disappointed it does not work. Suggest (or at least qualify) your App Store description of Keka as supporting xip.

Sorry @DavidPressman this is a sandbox limitation. It does extract XIP files, just does not work properly with the Xcode one.
