running esteam pulled in gstreamer targets that are not in base or the overlay

I'm not sure which game pulled in the old dependencies, but I got these 2 items which were removed from the main tree in January, 2020:

  • media-libs/gst-plugins-base:0.10[abi_x86_32]
  • media-libs/gstreamer:0.10[abi_x86_32]

Attaching the removed files from the main tree:

gstreamer.zip gst-plugins-base.zip

If I were to guess, it is Civilization V that pulled these in as it was segfaulting before, and is successful after.

See also, #199

reading through the thread in 199, I do have the steam runtime useflag enabled. As far as I know, not having installed as a system lib breaks Civ V.

Hmm that's unfortunate. I hadn't rushed to deal with #199 because I wasn't aware of any games actually using gstreamer. I have this game but I haven't had it installed in a long time. I'll add this to the list of packages I need to move into the overlay.

this is still an issue over a year later. Has there been any progress?

Sorry, it just hasn't been a priority.

Well, there has to be some easier workarounds. Could we at least remove those gstreamer-0.10 stuff from the database for now? Then at least I'll be able to run emerge @esteam.
