Civ: Beyond Earth segfaults

Trying to run Civ BE via the steam client gives the following

CivBE[4800]: segfault at 0 ip 00000000f6f15166 sp 00000000ffd049f4 error 4 in libc-2.20.so[f6e91000+196000]

Hi, do you use the official steam runtime? If the segfault happens in the libc, I fear there is not much I can do with the overlay. You could try to downgrade libc but this can be dangerous.

so I have the steamruntime use flag enabled and am just running steam as per normal. have also attempted to play with STEAM_RUNTIME=0. no dice :(
