"Automatically close duplicate tabs" feature no longer working!

It looks like this feature has recently stopped working. I have it ENABLED so as to avoid opening tabs that I already have open. It really helps keep my tab groups organized!

Using Chrome Version 119.0.6045.123 on the Mac desktop, with Tabli 2.1.2.

Hmm, wait a sec. This is happening for me intermittently. Sometimes a duplicate tab opens (like for cbc.ca), but sometimes the browser slaps me back to the tab I already have open (like on internal links to Jira tickets). Ok, I'll keep this thread up with more findings, if that would help....?
