What exactly is the "shape_predictor_68_face_landmarks.dat" file inside trained models for? When I look at it with a dat file viewer its just a perfect pyramid of points. I'm confused on how that helps predict facial landmarks.
It's a model trained on the ibug 300-W dataset by @davisking. It places 68 specific landmarks on the face, and I use it to detect the eyes before working on the pupil.

Thank you for the response! I'm using your program on previously recorded webcam videos and the eye tracking is very on/off but it works perfectly when I use my own webcam. If I have access to .dat files of face models for my recorded videos, do you think it would improve the tracking?
