[BUG] missing characters in VS Code Claude integration

Environment

  • Platform (select one):
    • [ /] Anthropic API
  • Claude CLI version: 1.0.35 (Claude Code)
  • Operating System: Ubuntu 24.04
  • Terminal: VS Code integration

Bug Description

I get missing characters in the output. They're not literally missing because I can copy the terminal window and paste them in text editor and they're there, but as per the screenshot, you can see that there's missing characters everywhere.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use Claude code on the same environment as me for some time.
  2. Hope for the best.

Expected Behavior

All output characters visible

I have a similar issue. Using Windows 11 + WSL. Containers run in Ubuntu and VSCode connects to the remote server there.

I'm experiencing the same thing. Win 11 + WSL. It's gone away after a system restart but it comes back after a few hours of usage.

Uninstalled oh-my-bash and restarted claude. Issue does not reproduce.
