[BUG] Claude Code VS Code extension is not compatible with OS X Tahoe

Environment

  • Platform (select one):
    • [ X] Anthropic API
    • [ ] AWS Bedrock
    • [ ] Google Vertex AI
    • [ ] Other:
  • Claude CLI version: 1.0.27 (Claude Code)
  • Operating System: macOS Tahoe 26.0 Beta (25A5279m)

Bug Description

The plugin is all validated and says it is installed but the plugin never loads to the UI and the claude code icon is not available. I have tried on both VS Code and Cursor.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install claude code in VS Code
  2. Notice the success
  3. Now try to use it and the plugin is nowhere to be found.

Expected Behavior

Plugin would be available.

Actual Behavior

plugin is nowhere to be found.

What does /status say when you launch claude inside the IDE console?

So there is some bug here, but I was able to resolve it be completely removing all traces of claude code and reinstalling everything from scratch. It is working now.
