Keyboard Input Mapping Broken for Swedish Layout After Terminal Setup

Open joelso opened this issue 7 months ago • 2 comments

Bug Description After I enabled /terminal-setup I cannot do @ (option + 2) on my Swedish layout keyboard. I guess the terminal/input now hijacks the option key. Even outside of claude it does not work.

Not sure if this is a bug related to Claude. When I disabled "Use option as Meta key" in terminal.app it started to work, but ofc option+enter does not result in new line.

It seems that Claude code enables "Use Option as Meta key" on startup/periodically. While undoubtedly useful for English keyboards, it makes it very annoying to use Claude with a localized keyboard layout. I have to go to settings every time to disable it.

Maybe I'm overlooking it, but a setting to disable the automatic toggling would be very welcome 🙏

Same for German keyboards. Would be great if this could bet set to work only within a claude code session.

Same for UK keyboards given that Apple, many moons ago, decided to torture British developers by putting # on an alt-key 😩
