[DOCS] Missing documentation for "Delegate Mode" permission mode
Documentation Type
Missing documentation (feature not documented)
Documentation Location
https://code.claude.com/docs/en/settings and https://code.claude.com/docs/en/iam
Section/Topic
Permission Modes / Default Permission Mode
Current Documentation
The settings and IAM docs describe these permission modes: default, acceptEdits, plan, and bypassPermissions.
The /status → Config menu in Claude Code v2.0.71 shows a fifth option called "Delegate Mode" that is not documented anywhere.
What's Wrong or Missing?
"Delegate Mode" appears as a valid permission mode option in the Claude Code UI (/status → Config → Default permission mode) and in settings.json ("defaultMode": "delegate"), but no documentation exists explaining:
- What this mode does
- How it differs from default, acceptEdits, and plan modes
- When/why a user would choose it
Suggested Improvement
Add documentation for Delegate Mode to the permission modes section, explaining its behavior and use cases — similar to how plan mode and acceptEdits are currently documented.
Impact
High - Prevents users from using a feature
Additional Context

What the hell does it do? Anthropic keeps shipping stuff without documenting it.
Still have absolutely no clue what this does.
