not working with react 18.2.0: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'stop')

Describe the bug

I experienced the issue on my codebase and I thought it was related with my code, but I reproduced the same error here:

I am reproducing exactly the same sample of reactivue README.

• Expected result: no error thrown by reactivue lib and sample working correctly
• Actual result: error Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'stop') thrown by reactivue and "increase" button triggers the callback but we have no effects (counter value is still shown in DOM as 0)
