vSAN: Claiming and Managing Disks

Open eschek87 opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

SUMMARY

After adding hosts to vcenter, the next step is to create a cluster object and add hosts to that cluster. A lot's of companies use vSAN as a storage layer. Currently there is no plugin to configure/claim the vSAN disk. Auto-claiming from vmware_cluster_vsan_module is deprecated. In the vmware webclient it is possible to do this more or less automatically. Maybe this doc helps for implementation: https://vdc-download.vmware.com/vmwb-repository/dcr-public/424d010b-c80e-40de-b1a3-25f6e9861e6a/3b934f51-98b6-4ea1-9336-b1bac1f23403/vsan-sdk-67.pdf "Claiming and Managing Disks"

Is there an update on this issue? It's been open for over 2 years now. As stated above the need to claim disks and configure the cache and capacity tier disks is needed for vSAN shops. It is available in the vSAN SDK as stated on page 15: https://vdc-download.vmware.com/vmwb-repository/dcr-public/ae1274f0-251c-48a3-b818-bd3bef45058a/5d37468d-0aed-49ad-a0c2-ad9543336543/vsan-sdk-702.pdf

@dk-rbrown I'm afraid nobody found the time to work on this yet. We're a bit short-staffed :-/
