[BUG] /models dialog extremely slow after a lot of characters being typed into it

Description

If you type into the models dialog, then delete, then type again it is very slow

Steps to reproduce

1. Use the TUI
2. Type /models
3. for _ in range(20): 3a. type "opus" into the search box 3b. delete the search query completely
4. Notice how it slows down by a lot
