alt-text not recognized

I know this project is no longer updated, but wondering if anyone has an idea on this. The dfi plugin works fine, but if you try to insert alt-text, browsers don't seem to pick up on it. I think this is a result of how the plugin displays the featured images. Any ideas? Thanks all.
