launcher trying to load system Qt libraries

Open dae opened this issue 2 months ago • 1 comments

Some users have reported errors that seem to imply system Qt libraries are being pulled in:

https://forums.ankiweb.net/t/how-i-resolved-qt6-issues-on-install-update-on-ubuntu-24-lts/66362 https://forums.ankiweb.net/t/linux-mint-installation-not-working-missing-pyqt6-qtquick/66683

I don't recall seeing this in my own testing on Ubuntu, so perhaps it is configuration-related? 🤔 I wonder if we should be making the launcher do this automatically.

I'm on Arch Linux and both the anki and anki-bin packages on the AUR seem to use my system Qt

My system Anki shows

Version ⁨25.09.2 (3890e12c)⁩
Python 3.13.7 Qt 6.10.0 Chromium 134

when I use my system installed anki and try to record audio, I see

Qt info: Using Qt multimedia with FFmpeg version n8.0 GPL version 3 or later

and anki just freezes

When I use the main branch, it shows

Version ⁨25.09.2 (fb2e2bd3)⁩
Python 3.13.5 Qt 6.9.1 Chromium 122

and the audio recording works with

Qt info: Using Qt multimedia with FFmpeg version 7.1.1 LGPL version 2.1 or later
