Safemode via shift key not working on Gnome

Open dae opened this issue 3 months ago • 1 comments

Holding Shift while launching Anki doesn’t open safemode though. Running anki --safemode explicitly does work, however.

I suspect it's specific to Mutter, but have not tried with a different compositor to confirm. Probably security-related (not allowing keyboard input until a window is focused), which may make it harder to work around.

Maybe we could add a menu entry named "Restart in Safemode"? Not sure how to implement it at the moment but it might be a viable "fix" that is easy to discover and also accessible for non technical users (because of no needed terminal).
