Datepicker emulating a Year and month picker example is showing date when clicked on mat-calendar-period-button

Reproduction

Steps to reproduce:

1. Visit https://material.angular.io/components/datepicker/examples
2. Perform same steps as shown in attached gif

Expected Behavior

Date picker view should not be visible

Actual Behavior

Date picker view is visible
