Use mapPies on other maps

Hi I was wondering if there is an option for mapPies to be used with other raster maps, so without the region option? I have tried a few variations but cant seem to get it to work.

Sorry I did work it out it works on standard projections using the xlim and ylim options as far as I can tell though it doesn't work on polar projections?
