just saying me and @andybalaam were talking about an installer for rabbit escape to put files in the right place and stuff like that.

An installer for Windows might be handy. An exe that checks if java is installed, and then fetches it from oracle if necessary.

Java is really annoying. We tried various things in FreeGuide and never came up with something I was happy with.

But yeah for win and lin (and mac) installers would be nice.

I have not checked to see if this works http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Java_Launcher_with_automatic_JRE_installation it may form the basis of one for windows.

We used NSIS for FreeGuide and I think it is badly dated now. Last time I looked I reckoned wix was the way to go http://wixtoolset.org/

Right, so Wix is definitely still being maintained.

I don't know whether they provide anything to make java less annoying.
