Bump Hamcrest dependency from 1.3 to 2.2

Espresso still depends on Hamcrest 1.3 even though the latest release is 2.2 and only bumping it locally is not straightforward

Any update on this? The latest espresso-core 3.5.1 release still depends on hamcrest 1.3.

Is there a rationale to bump the version other than its the latest version?

Right now its intentionally fixed at 1.3. Pieces of androidx.test depends on JUnit 4.13 which depends on hamcrest 1.3, so I'm concerned forcing an upgrade to 2.2 will cause more problems then it would solve.
