Bad contrast against strong black/white backgrounds

I've asked my friend to take some screenshots on his iOS 11 device, here is what it looks like against a pure black image Image Vs what Maize looks like against the same image Image

White backgrounds are a bit better, only problem I see is the Brightness/volume sliders' icons are much less visible. iOS 11: Image Maize: Image
