What does "Print the PDF onto a black check" mean?

The Readme's "Using the template" has this step:

  1. Print the PDF onto a black check

What does this mean?

Is this supposed to be a "blank check", like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L3NC8A8?th=1 ?
