Printing git tag info is useful so we might add this also.

Changes introducing machine specific attributes feel out-of-scope. Not saying they wouldn't be useful, but they would be better suited to a different CMake module (e.g. something fancy like cmake-buildmachine-tracking).

Now the tag change - that sounds useful. Would you mind if I merged just that change into master?

pls add a handle to the remote labeled 'origin''s URL,

maybe even all of them and both push and pull URLs for each if wanting to be exhaustive.
