Occasional stutter on some older devices on the ticker animation

Hello,

Got some stutter and lower FPS on an 2017 macbook pro:

slow

On more modern devices its not noticeable though so it might be hard to reproduce

The library version is: 1.0.19

I also came up with a potential fix so let me create a PR
