Weapons unnecessarily dark in IW compared to QS

The screenshot with the darker shotgun is Ironwail, the screenshot with the lighter shotgun is Quakespasm. Both latest versions, both the exact same graphics settings. vkQuake also does not have this darkness.

I believe the darker shot is more correct.

FitzQuake and most of it's derivatives excessively brighten and flatten the lighting of MDLs; you can also see this on the crucified Zombies in the Hard skill entry hall in the 2 shots you've posted.

Looking at footage of dosquake and winquake, it seems to be true. But MAN I really don't like it. The colors on the zombie and the shotgun pop more in QS and vkQ. I suppose I'd like to Feature Request so that it looks more like QS. Probably won't happen.

Perhaps setting gl_overbright_models to 0 and messing with the gamma and contrast values can be a solution? :P
