[Feature Request] Flatpak packaging for Linux & Steam Deck

Open jroyvde opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Flatpak is quickly becoming the standard for Linux app distribution. Virtually every popular emulator, and many source ports for other games are available for installation from Flathub, including GZDoom, EDuke32, Yamagi Quake II & many more. Unfortunately, so far no other single-player focused Quake source port is being distributed this way. A Flatpak package would be a good way to get this port into the hands of people on Linux wanting to play Quake, especially the growing Steam Deck user base.

Some of the benefits:

  • Simple installation across virtually every Linux distribution
  • Automatic updates, no need for users to re-compile each time
  • Out-of-the-box access on Steam Deck via the Discover software centre

I second this, being able to more easily install it without needing to mess with sudo commands on the Steam Deck would be a game changer.
