ANYWAY TO GET THIS TO WORK ON THE LATEST OS SEQUOIA ?

Open mitchfromtoronto opened this issue 1 year ago • 9 comments

Hi there I just found my old Microsoft dial and wanted to try it with My M1 Mac Mini with the latest OS developer version (Sequoia Beta) When I try to install your app it says Apple could not verify "MacDial.app) is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy. I right clicked on it and everything but still getting this message. Any chance of an update please Can you please email me if yes ? [email protected] Thanking you either way as your app is getting rave reviews everywhere !!

Try opening Terminal and write

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine

  • add a space at the end.

Then drag your MacDial app into the Terminal window and press return.

Can you confirm it's still working on latest macos?

Does it also crash without the Dial connected? If so, I could give it a debug and attempt a fix, before I buy one

just wanted to say that i've been working on a fork of this for about a day, and I already have full volume, display & keyboard brightness on sequoia working perfectly. with more responsiveness by directly tapping into the system instead of emulating keypresses, and also with extra haptics for when you reach the end (0% or 100%).

Will try to get a release a working version in the next week or so. Might not be perfect at first, but it's been working pretty well for me so far

@sdgros01 I have every feature of the original app working (with the changes from this amazing fork which makes the app 100% native with zero dependencies). Really having fun with it :)

So far I've also added:

  • Native system integration for display/keyboard brightness and volume, to allow for zero-lag granular control that the up/down keys don't provide, as well as the ability to disable the system OSD for changes
  • Native system integration for the playback control, to improve responsiveness
  • Haptic-based end stops when you reach 0%/100%
  • Customizable keyboard modifiers for the scrolling rotation mode
  • Options to show either a dial icon, rotation, or button mode as the menu bar icon
  • Full AppleScript support to customize (almost) every setting of the app, allowing for automation to change the dial functionality based on your requirements for a given situation
  • Support for macOS Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia and Tahoe

I'm still going to be working on it for a bit longer, to add arrow key functionality to the rotation modes. Let me know if you'd like to try out the alpha and I can upload a pre-release build to try out :)
