WD my passport ultra , i know the password but i cant access it!
first of all i own it i have amazon bill and i know the password , but the first time i set the password i was on a rush so maybe i entered a letter or number mistakenly while setting the password so at least i know most of the password or all of it, anyway when i try to unlock it it says invalid password while i am 100% sure that i didnt forget my password, the drive is working it never crashed or fall or fail or damaged at anyway , so can reallymine or themaddoctor help me to unlock the drive which uses aes-256 ? thanks
I can only help if you can bypass the chip that does the encryption. For older passports, that chip is in a separate board. For the rest, it is on the controller board. For the fist case, just remove the board. For the second case, there are people who have been able to add SATA connectors or disable the chip by removing resisters, but there are a lot of different configurations, so I cannot even point you to the right webpage for that.
here is the link to the one i have , is it enough to tell if its the old or the new one ?

Looks new to me.
Those little passports have had the integrated usb bridges since around 2012 if I recall correctly when I did my first conversion to sata
