Mention that this project is no longer necessary in the README?

The installation docs from anbox have been updated not to reference this repository anymore, but it would probably be a good idea to add a notice here too

But it is necessary for those who are not on Ubuntu family. I am a solus (and manjaro) user and in past I have been using this repo to build the kernel modules from scratch.

The docs update you are mentioning clearly says that ubuntu ships these modules out-of-box, For others, this project is necessary. There are distro families other than Ubuntu family.

If i am correct. There are other distributions. But from my understanding every distro is using the linux kernel. The modules ASHMEM and BINDERFS has been migrated into the linux kernel itself.

So yes building THE MODULES from source is deprecated. Instead you need to build your LINUX KERNEL from source with the ASHMEM and KERNEL options enabled in the KERNEL CONFIG FILE.

For Manjaro Kernel i guess you can have a look at the 516 branch here - and ill see it is already activated/included...

https://gitlab.manjaro.org/packages/core/linux516/-/blob/master/config

If you are unsure you could try to build the source kernel of any distrubtion with the "Android" sections enabled.
