would this cause any differences to how existing users have to import the file?

I believe it would but don't have access to a machine with the code to check right now. If it does then it would need to be a major version bump as it is a breaking change - I'm not sure I want to do that for such a small change to be honest

It won't create a difference, since routing is handled by babel itself.
