I think a better plan than creating framework-specific completion-mechanisms would be to create an implementation that just works with completion-at-point. Basically what this issue asks for. That would solve it for all current and future completion frameworks once and for all.

That said... I use company-mode too, so I'm not going to be putting any effort into solving this myself either.
