Dated Downloads Not Working

Open gunnardave opened this issue 8 years ago • 2 comments

SafariStand doesn't create dated folders for me. Files download to the Download folder just not being organized by Stand. Other features seem to be working fine such as icons on tabs, address bar width expand. Also cosyTabs 1.4.4 works fine.

macOS 10.12.2 Safari 10.0.2 mySIMBL 0.4.3 (Wolfgang Baird) SafariStand 10.0.655

I don't see any user permission differences when comparing to a working El Capitan 10.11.6 / Stand 9.0.217Yosemite installation. SIP was re-enabled after installing mySIMBL.

Could be related to new security since downloading itself seems to have changed. I noticed Safari no longer writes several copies of the same file with an incremented name (e.g. filename, filename-2, filename-3). Not sure if that's been true for a while but just noticed it.

For what it's worth, Dated Downloads are working for me with all the same software versions installed. (Except SafariStand is actually 10.0.665, I'm guessing yours is a typo.) I don't know what's different between your settings and mine, but I just wanted to contribute another data point. It's one of my favorite features of SafariStand.

And I think Safari 10 (and/or perhaps Sierra) is what introduced the new Downloads feature that prevents duplicate downloads. Duplicate bookmarks are also prevented, Safari is now smart enough to only keep the most recent one.

Safari stand 11.0.0 for safari 11 also had similar symptoms. MBP2017 does not create download folder. It was created without problems on iMac 2013.
