[Request] Atlas - Click to zoom or other drill-down feature

Open galex-missett opened this issue 9 years ago • 4 comments

Scenario: I'm vetting Contracts for Amtgard International. Each contract contains the location of the new park.

With the current Atlas setup, I have to scroll over to whatever area I want, click or mousewheel to zoom and then look at the parks one at a time. All this while comparing them to a second Google Maps tab where I've marked the potential new chapter.

Literally anything that made this process faster would be great, whether that's a list of states and provinces that I click to drill down and show just that state on the map, or a search box where I can leverage Google Maps to search the city of the new park so it contrasts with the existing city pins.

I often thought awhile back, typing in a city, state and showing the closest parks within X distance would be very helpful. Some examples this can be helpful for:

  • Often times I find myself searching/researching park locations with atlas in 1 tab, google maps up in another tab & Facebook in another. Trying to map out a trip on my cell phone on the road can be hectic.
  • Going on vacation or taking a business trip or something and researching parks along my path can be helpful.
  • Fore planning a road trip to hit multiple parks to see if possible.

I myself would love to see more features in the Atlas. But I understand lack of time/money etc. I'm just glad to have it working. :-)

We may need to discuss a bit more. I need a better understanding of the issue, based on your process.

I have wanted a "parks within X miles on Y date" for a while, myself.
