“PiP” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software

I get the following error when I try to run the program:

  • This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.

I've tried downloading it through homebrew and manually

Need to know the host macOS version to debug the issue.

This just occured for me as well. This was a fresh install of the app (never used it before) via homebrew. brew install --cask amitv87-pip

Is the app not notarised? image

System: Macbook M2 Pro Sonoma 14.4.1 (Darwin 23.4.0)

The app is not notarised and as of now there are no plans to do it.
