No Sound with mp4 Format

Open MartyByard opened this issue 4 years ago • 9 comments

Hi RecApp,

First of all does this app record sound too while recording the screen? I have tried all formats and have failed to record any sound. Also I have tried the mp4 format, but it doesn't record screen or and audio.

Please clarify,

Marty

Hello. Wayland?

I'm using Fedora

RecApp should write sound at least on X11 session, not sure about Wayland session.

I am not able to record the screen while using the MP4 format either on Fedora 32.

Now i understand. You should mention Fedora from the beginning. MP4 codecs not allowed to distribution in Fedora unfortunately. Even not allowed to adding them as weak dependency, this discussed many times. But all is what you need to do is enable RPM Fusion repo and then install: sudo dnf install gstreamer1-plugins-ugly

Maybe good idea to add some not or README.fedora.md and document this.

Thanks. I will try it out and let you know if it worked

@MartyByard Please show the result of executing this command in the terminal : echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

@amikha1lov sound recording stopped working for me too in Fedora. Maybe 1.1.0 regression? We should track bug with sound recording in separate issue.

But MP4 works fine.
